AI credits — how they work

How AI credits are consumed, how to check your balance, and what happens when you run out.

Updated today

AI credits are how Datadrew measures your Drew AI usage. Every question you ask Drew AI consumes credits based on the complexity of the question and the model tier used.

Credits by plan

Each Datadrew plan includes a monthly credit allowance:

  • Free plan: 200 credits per month

  • Essentials plan: 1,000 credits per month

  • Pro plan: 4,000 credits per month

Credits reset on the first of each calendar month.

How credits are consumed

The number of credits used per question depends on two factors:

  1. The model tier: Light uses the fewest credits, Pro uses moderate credits, and Deep Analysis uses the most.

  2. The complexity of your question: A simple lookup ("What was yesterday's revenue?") costs fewer credits than a multi-step analysis ("Compare my Google Ads and Meta Ads performance by campaign for the last 30 days with budget recommendations").

Approximate credit usage per question:

  • Light: 1-2 credits

  • Pro: 3-8 credits

  • Deep Analysis: 10-30 credits

These are estimates — actual usage depends on the amount of data processed and the number of tools Drew AI needs to call to answer your question.

What happens when credits run out

When you reach your monthly credit limit, you will see a notification that your credits have been exhausted. You have two options:

  • Wait for the next month: Credits reset on the first of each calendar month.

  • Upgrade your plan: Move to a higher plan for more monthly credits.

Tips to conserve credits

  • Use Light mode for quick lookups: Simple questions like "What was my revenue yesterday?" do not need Pro or Deep Analysis.

  • Be specific in your questions: Specific questions require fewer back-and-forth rounds, saving credits.

  • Combine related questions: Instead of asking three separate questions about Meta Ads, ask one comprehensive question: "Give me a full Meta Ads overview — top campaigns, ad performance, and spend trends."

  • Use follow-up questions wisely: Follow-ups within the same conversation thread can be more efficient than starting a new thread.

Questions asked by Datadrew admin team members (for support or debugging purposes) do not count against your monthly credit allowance.
