Drew AI limitations

What Drew AI can and cannot do — read-only access, data freshness, query limits, and known constraints.

Updated today

Drew AI is a powerful analytics tool, but it has some limitations that are important to understand. Being aware of these will help you set the right expectations and get the most value from your conversations.

Drew AI is read-only

Drew AI can analyze your data and provide insights, but it cannot take actions on your behalf. It cannot:

  • Create, pause, or modify ad campaigns in Meta Ads or Google Ads

  • Send emails or create flows in Klaviyo

  • Change product prices, inventory, or settings in Shopify

  • Update your Datadrew account settings

Drew AI will give you recommendations on what to do, but you will need to take the actions yourself in the relevant platform.

Shopify data is not available for today

Shopify data (orders, customers, products, revenue) is synced daily and is only available up through yesterday. Drew AI cannot show you today's Shopify sales, order count, or revenue. For today's metrics, you can ask about ad platform data (Meta Ads, Google Ads, GA4) which is available in real-time.

Data depends on your integrations

Drew AI can only analyze platforms you have connected. If you have not connected Google Ads, Drew AI cannot analyze your Google Ads data — even if you have active campaigns. Make sure all your platforms are connected on the Integrations page to get the full benefit.

It is AI, not a database lookup

Drew AI uses advanced AI models to interpret your questions and fetch data. Occasionally it may:

  • Misinterpret an ambiguous question — try rephrasing with more specific details

  • Present data in a format different from what you expected — ask for the specific format you want

  • Take a different analytical approach than you had in mind — provide more context about what you are looking for

If a response does not look right, give feedback using the thumbs down button and rephrase your question. Drew AI improves with feedback.

Credit limits apply

Each plan has a monthly credit allowance (Free: 200, Essentials: 1,000, Pro: 4,000). Complex questions using Deep Analysis mode consume more credits. If you run out of credits, you will need to wait until the next month or upgrade your plan.

No real-time Shopify webhooks

Drew AI does not receive live Shopify webhooks for instant order notifications. It queries historical data from the warehouse (up to yesterday) or uses MCP tools for ad platforms. If you need real-time order alerts, use Shopify's native notification system.

Off-topic questions are declined

Drew AI is purpose-built for e-commerce analytics. It will politely decline questions unrelated to marketing, advertising, e-commerce, or analytics — such as general knowledge questions, recipe requests, or entertainment topics.

Platform API limits

When Drew AI pulls data from live APIs (Meta Ads, Google Ads, etc.), it is subject to the API rate limits and data availability of each platform. In rare cases:

  • A platform API may be temporarily slow or unavailable

  • Very large data requests may be paginated, potentially missing some details

  • Some platform features or metrics may not be exposed through their API

We are always improving

Drew AI is actively being improved with new capabilities, skills, and data sources. If there is something you wish Drew AI could do, let us know — your feedback directly shapes our development roadmap.
