Understanding Drew AI visualizations

Chart types Drew AI can create — line, bar, scatter, heatmap, pie, sankey, and more.

Updated today

Drew AI automatically generates charts and visualizations whenever your data involves trends, comparisons, or distributions. You do not need to ask for a chart specifically — Drew AI decides when a visualization will help you understand the data better.

Supported chart types

Drew AI can generate 10 different chart types, each suited to different kinds of data:

  • Line chart: Best for trends over time (e.g., daily revenue, weekly spend). This is the most common chart type.

  • Bar chart: Best for comparing categories side by side (e.g., campaign performance, product revenue).

  • Area chart: Similar to line charts but with filled areas, good for showing cumulative trends or volume.

  • Stacked bar: Shows composition over time or by category (e.g., revenue by channel stacked by month).

  • Grouped bar: Side-by-side bars for comparing multiple metrics per category.

  • Scatter plot: Shows relationships between two metrics (e.g., ad spend vs. ROAS by campaign).

  • Combo chart: Combines bars and lines — useful when showing volume (bars) alongside a rate (line), like orders and conversion rate together.

  • Heatmap: Visualizes data density or intensity across two dimensions, often used for cohort analysis.

  • Pie chart: Shows distribution across categories (e.g., revenue split by platform).

  • Sankey (flow) chart: Shows how values flow between stages, ideal for marketing funnels, budget allocation, or traffic source breakdowns.

How charts are generated

When Drew AI fetches your data and determines a chart would be helpful, it automatically creates a chart specification that includes:

  • The right chart type for your data

  • Properly labeled axes and series

  • A descriptive title

  • Color-coded series for easy reading

Charts appear inline within the conversation, right alongside the text explanation.

Interacting with charts

  • Hover over data points to see exact values.

  • Read the legend at the bottom of the chart to identify each data series.

  • Charts are responsive and will resize to fit your screen.

When Drew AI creates charts

Drew AI typically generates a visualization when:

  • You ask about trends over time ("Show me spend trend for the last 30 days")

  • You compare categories ("Compare performance across campaigns")

  • You ask about distributions ("What is the revenue split by platform?")

  • You ask about funnels or flows ("Show me the marketing funnel")

If you want a chart and Drew AI did not create one, just ask: "Can you visualize that as a chart?" or "Show me a trend chart for this data."

Mermaid diagrams

For non-data visualizations like workflows, processes, or campaign structures, Drew AI may generate Mermaid diagrams — flowcharts, sequence diagrams, or state diagrams rendered as text-based graphics. These are useful for understanding campaign structure or data flow.
